Disneyland
We just got back from Disneyland! We had a blast, especially the kids. They have been playing "Disneyland" all day! It was a great time to go because the crowds were small.....the only way to go with little ones! The longest we waited in a line was about 15 minutes and that was on Saturday! Friday was a little rough because it poured practically all day long. (That's why we're all wearing funny rain gear in the pictures!) I think it kept the crowds down even more though so it was kinda nice. The best part of the whole week was watching the kids' faces light up when they saw cool things. It truly is the happiest place on earth when you're a kid!
Audrey's favorite part was seeing all the princesses and riding Space Mountain. I think she went on it five times! On Saturday night we had dinner at "Ariel's Grotto". She also loved this because Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Snow White, and Cinderella come around and visit with you at your table. Every little girl's dream! It was a little expensive, but definitely worth it.
Alex really liked seeing all his favorite characters (Buzz Lightyear, Lightning McQueen, Mater, Mickey, etc) and loved Space Mountain too! He really liked the carousel and would have gone on it all day without stopping. I wasn't sure the kids would like all the "big" rides but they both LOVED them. It was nice for us too because we didn't have to go on kiddie rides all day.
The first day Alex was about a 1/2 inch too short to ride some of the bigger rides. That night we stopped at Target and bought him the tallest shoes we could find (which just so happened to be the UGLIEST shoes in the whole store!) They were Spiderman shoes that lit up. I have always vowed to NEVER buy my kids shoes that have characters on them, but I gave in just for this! The shoes have now been put away and will only be brought out for special occasions like playing in the mud! We also bought insoles just in case and Jeff cut them to size. It worked and the next two days we went on all the rides together. We even took him on "Tower of Terror"! The poor kid was pretty shocked, but didn't cry a bit. He must have liked it a little because he went on it again the next day!
My sister Lindy came with us because she just happened to be out of school. It was lots of fun and the kids are already talking about going back. It was a huge bummer to come home to a big snow storm. We liked the 60 and 70 degree weather much better. We had a magical week at the happiest place on earth!

so fun! and, hey, i caved for the same shoes for j, too - from a grandma. i haven't minded them like i thought i would & it sure makes his day to have them some of the time!
Looks super fun! What a great time of year to go, too.
Totally jealous! I'm glad you got to go though. I haven't been since high school, and I'm sure it's much more fun when you have the magic of the kids too!
The story about Alex's shoes cracks me up. I am glad you guys had a good time.
What fun! Liesl would love to see all the princessess. She's obsessed! Great pictures!
How funny about Alex's shoes! We had a great time at the big D-land over New Year's too! However, I HATED the Tower of Terror. When on space mountain, they forgot to stop our car, so we got to ride two times in a row. The kids loved that! Truly Disneyland is a great place to visit. I never get tired of it!
