Happy Birthday Audrey!

On December 30th Audrey turned five. I can't believe I have a five year old! It seems like yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital, and I was scared to death. We lived in Oklahoma and I was pretty anxious about being so far from home with my first baby. Luckily she was a good baby and I had no problems. I can't believe it has been five years since then, my how the time flies. It makes me sad to think that the next five years will probably go by even faster. I need to cherish every little moment because I know that all to soon those little moments will disappear. I guess that's where grand kids come it right?!?

For Audrey's birthday she wanted to get her ears pierced and go to Chuck-E-Cheese (arguable the worst place on earth). Her friend Katie got her ears pierced when she turned five so Audrey thought she needed to too. I was fine with it, but was a little nervous about how she would react when it actually came down to it. She was so brave and didn't even tear up. I was amazed at how well she did. She didn't even admit that it hurt until later that day.

After she got her ears pierced, we headed to Chuck-E-Cheese. It was an absolute zoo in there, but the kids loved it. Audrey took a couple of friends and they had a blast. It's not exactly a "fun" place for adults or anyone who wants to have a conversation without yelling. Both of our families were very good sports and stuck it out for two hours. It was awful and the food was awful too. The things we do for our kids! Jeff and I ended up staying for about 4 hours because the kids didn't want to leave. By the time we finally convinced them to leave, I was ready to rip my hair out. Audrey and the other kids had fun and I guess that's all that matters. Happy Birthday to Audrey! We sure love her.

I agree that it isn't all that fun. And yes, you have to SHOUT at someone standing right next to you in order for them to hear it. Also, when you leave, you feel like you want to throw yourself and your family into a giant tub of antibacterial gel!! Kids like it though!!

I know about the 5 thing. It's like they go from being 2 to 5 all of a sudden and then they seem so much older. I'll have a 7 year old this year and I feel like he just turned 5...weird?
