Training for 26.2

So I have finally bit the bullet and decided to train for a marathon. It's something I have always wanted to do, but it has never seemed like the right time.....until now. Most people think I'm nuts, especially Jeff, but I truly feed off a good challenge (something I got from my dad, no doubt!) I've always been a runner, but have never done anything like this. I found a running partner in my Ward and we seem to be great together! It has been fun, but also a HUGE commitment at the same time. Let's just say 5:30 am in the Winter is NOT a fun time to run, but it is the best time for us. I have NEVER been a morning person so this is the commitment part for me NOT the running! We will do the Ogden half marathon in April and assuming all goes well, we plan on doing the Ogden full marathon in May. We've only been "training" for a month, but with each long run, it seems more and more possible for me to accomplish my goal. I am actually pretty excited about it! Jeff on the other hand can't understand why anyone would ever want to "torture" themselves by doing something like this, but he has been very supportive so far. I hope my body can hold up for 3 1/2 more months.

My partner and I train together during the week but on Saturdays, we do our long runs by ourselves. Saturday I realized I need more/new workout songs on my Ipod....you know, the ones with a great beat or catchy rhythm that keep the adrenaline pumping?!? HELP! What songs keep you going during a long workout? I love anything from Country music to Rock so don't be shy! I will greatly appreciate it come Saturday.

Way to go Josie! 5:30 am is definitely dedication!
Here are a couple of my favs, oldies but goodies:
It's My Life - Bon Jovi
Life is a Highway - Tom Cochrane
American Girl - Tom Petty (almost any Tom Petty song for that matter)
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
Somebody Told Me - The Killers
Good luck!

Josie Josie do not listen to Jeff. He is a great person but physically very lazy which is a shame because he used to be a great runner. You go girl. I will come tend kids or do anything to help you train. You should get the "Rocky" theme of course. Aloha
