On May 31st, I left for West Palm Beach, Florida with my mom and sisters. Kalli couldn't get enough time off work, so she wasn't there. We really missed her. It was a girls trip that we planned after we found out my dad was taking Jeff and my brother, Jordan to the U.S. Open. I guess you could say we took separate vacations this year!
We left on Saturday morning and headed for the airport. We were all excited about the flight because we were sitting First Class because my Dad had redeemed so many of his Skymiles to get us there. It was a fun adventure for all of us. We couldn't wipe the grins off our faces. It is definitely tons better than flying coach. We all felt a little guilty, and bad for the poor folks flying coach.
When we landed, we went and picked up our car which was a Dodge Charger. It was nice, but I would never want one for myself. We drove to some scary town and stayed overnight in a Courtyard Hotel. We couldn't check into our Villa until Sunday morning.
The next morning, we woke up and left for Palm Beach. When we got to our room, we were excited to see it was on the sixth floor of the building we had requested. We had a perfect view of the ocean and the pools. We sat on the balcony and just stared at the ocean for a while. There's something so relaxing and almost hypnotizing about the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday pretty much consisted of the same thing........
1. Sleeping in.....so nice!
2. Working out at the Fitness Center (the humidity is so high in Florida, I've never sweat so much in my life!)
3. Bathing in the HOT sun!
4. Swimming in the pool.
4. A trip to the beach, including floating in the ocean on our tubes, and snorkeling (kind of).
5. Lots of yummy, fattening, food!
6. Late nights with lots of laughing and goofing off.
Thursday brought a different adventure, especially for me and Lindy. We went para sailing on a VERY rough ocean. We had all been para sailing before, but never in water this rough. Lindy and I got a little seasick, well, I got a little seasick, Lindy got a LOT seasick. It all started when we were up on our ride. The wind was blowing really hard and making our seats rock and sway in the wind. I turned to Lindy and said, "I think I might be getting sick." She said she was too and that the swinging motion wasn't helping any. We landed and got back in the boat. Every time the boat would stop to load more people on the para sail, we got much worse. The rocking of the boat was horrible! My mom was next, and needed somebody to ride with her. I decided to go again. I thought being up in the air might be better than being on the rocking boat. Not really! I almost lost it up in the air. Somehow I was able to keep it down, and make it back to the boat. Lindy wasn't so lucky. I felt so bad for her. The rest of the trip, I had the whole body sweat going on, and a horrible nauseous feeling. I never threw-up, thankfully. When we finally made it off that boat, I was pretty green and Lindy was pale as a ghost. It was miserable. It only took a couple of hours to recover and then we were fine. Mom, Nat, and Al thought it was pretty funny, and eventually Lindy and I thought it was funny too. Just a little advice, it you're ever going out on a small boat in really choppy water, take Dramamine, or something like it!
Friday was another day spent in the sun, the pools, and on the beach. We finished the day off with appetizers and dessert at The Cheesecake Factory. YU-MMY! If you're an indecisive person, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. They have the largest menu I have ever seen and every item sounds delicious. Just the dessert part of the menu was two full pages. They must have over 50 different kinds of cheesecake! It was fabulous! Afterward, we went for a dip in the hot tub. It was actually pretty miserable because all of us were sunburned in at least a couple different places. You can't put on enough sunscreen in Florida.
Saturday was a day of rest from the sun. We were all a little pink and didn't want to make it worse. We went shopping instead and had lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen......always good! Mom bought us each some stuff and we headed back to the Hotel for some late afternoon rays at the pool. We were all a little depressed because we knew we would be leaving in the morning.
Sunday consisted of:
1. Severe Depression
2. Packing
3. Driving to the airport
4. Returning the car
5. Shopping for souvenirs
6. Flying to Atlanta First Class, eating at Chili's, and then flying home (also First Class). (Sorry, I just have to rub it in a little more, I'll probably never do it again, so I have to brag.)
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I have the most amazing and generous parents. They paid for the whole trip and my dad even tended my kids (by himself) for two of the days I was gone. Not many older men would be able or willing to do that. Thanks dad! I'm also glad I got to spend that time with some of my very best friends, my mom and sisters. I don't know what we would do without each other. I feel bad for any girl that doesn't have a sister. They really are the best. A big thanks to all the people that helped Jeff with the kids, I knew they were being well taken care of and they had a great time. As fun as the trip was, it was nice to come home and see Jeff and the kids. I really missed them, but it was nice to be able to completely relax for the week, just me and the girls.
P.S. Jeff left for the U.S. Open today with my dad and Jordan. Watch for him on T.V.!!!!
P.S.S. Sorry for the longest post ever. I mostly did it for me so I would remember our trip.

Ok, could I be any more jealous!? That looks like the funnest trip EVER! Can I sign up for your parents in my next life? :) And where did you girls all get your swimsuits - they were so cute! What great memories. That's awesome you were able to get away together.
I agree first class rocks...I could not believe all the leg room and you can't forget the "hot towels." I am glad you had fun. I am so jealous!
That is awesome Josie. I wish that I could go to Florida. I haven't been in forever. An I have never had a girls week there. LUCKY!
That sounds like so much fun. I am very envious. I've never flown first class, that would be nice. How fun to go with your mom and sisters. It's funny how close you grow to your family the older you get (not that we're old). What I want to know is where you guys got your swim suits. Super cute!!!
Girls trips really are the best. Glad you could get away, sounds way fun.
Hey Josie, I made the title for my blog in photoshop. That is the only way I know how.
